CD Projekt Red revealed that they sold over 50 million copies of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt worldwide, making the franchise’s total sales hit 75 million copies. This achievement is one of the greatest in the industry. The game is positioned at the ninth spot in the list of the top-selling games of all time. However, Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently ranking higher. The new update for the game features improved console performance, ray-tracing support resulting in a better gaming experience for the players.
CD Projekt Red’s financial results for Q1 demonstrate the strength of the company, which was eloquently expressed by CFO Piotr Nielubowicz as he said, “This shows the tremendous strength of the franchise.” The company is currently working on a new trilogy in the Witcher universe, with Witcher Polaris being one of the upcoming projects. This indicates that the company has set high expectations for itself. Fans are eagerly anticipating the snowy key art unveiled in March of last year, along with the engine switch to Unreal Engine 5. The foundation established in the first game should make it easier to create the sequels, potentially allowing for the trilogy to be completed in six years as originally planned.
CD Projekt Red is working on a full remake of the first Witcher game, supported by Epic Games. The new version, called Canis Majoris, will offer an open-world experience and bring back the original 2007 story featuring Geralt of Rivia. The game will focus on Geralt’s quest to regain his memories, and CD Projekt Red is dedicated to making the remake the best possible version of the game.
In addition to the main game, multiplayer fanatics will be pleased to know that there’s a spin-off title in the works too – codenamed Sirius. Don’t worry, things have been shaken up a bit, for the better! Lead developer The Molasses Flood recently laid off 29 of the team members to define a new framework for the game – so it’s all systems go on this one! And of course, it wouldn’t be a Witcher game without a story mode, so the multiplayer iteration promises to keep you engaged and playing for hours on end. Get excited!
